This non-metallic loose tube optical cable is designed for high-fiber-count outdoor applications requiring lightweight construction. It contains 16 G.652D single-mode fibers (up to 8 per tube) placed in PBT loose tubes filled with water-resistant gel. The tubes and filler rods are stranded around a non-metallic central strength member, with water-blocking compound filling the core apertures. A PE inner sheath and aramid yarn support layer are applied, followed by a PE or ATPE outer sheath. The cable offers exceptional short-term tensile strength of 8000 N and crush resistance of 2200 N/100mm, yet remains lightweight at 120 kg/km. Operating temperature ranges from -40 °C to +60 °C. Ideal for aerial, duct, and long-span installations requiring high strength and non-metallic construction.
1. Non-Metallic Construction for Lightning and EMI Safety
The cable features a non-metallic central strength member and aramid yarn support, with no metal components. This eliminates the risk of lightning strikes and electromagnetic interference, making it ideal for installation near power lines, railway systems, and in lightning-prone areas. The all-dielectric design also prevents ground loops and simplifies grounding requirements, reducing installation complexity and long-term maintenance costs.
2. Extremely High Tensile Strength for Long-Span Aerial Installations
With a short-term tensile rating of 8000 N, this cable can be pulled over very long distances without fiber strain. The combination of aramid yarn support and non-metallic central member evenly distributes tension, allowing the cable to withstand extreme pulling forces during aerial deployment across valleys, rivers, or between distant poles. This high strength ensures reliable performance even under ice and wind loads.
3. Lightweight Design for Easy Handling and Installation
Despite its high tensile capacity, the cable weighs only 120 kg/km and has a compact outer diameter of 12 mm. The lightweight construction reduces strain on support structures and makes manual handling, coiling, and pulling easier for field technicians. This saves labor time and lowers transportation costs, especially for large-scale projects requiring many kilometers of cable.
4. Robust Crush Resistance for Duct and Direct Burial
The cable offers short-term crush resistance of 2200 N/100mm, protecting fibers from point loads, rock pressure, and construction equipment impacts. The stranded loose tube design with water-blocking compound and dual sheathing (PE inner + PE/ATPE outer) provides excellent mechanical buffering. This makes the cable suitable for direct burial in rocky soil, underground ducts, and industrial zones where mechanical abuse is common.
5. Fully Water-Blocked and Wide Temperature Range
The PBT loose tubes contain water-resistant gel, and the core apertures are filled with water-blocking compound, meeting IEC 794-1-F5B standards. The cable operates reliably from -40 °C to +60 °C and can be installed between -10 °C and +60 °C. The PE outer sheath resists UV, ozone, and chemicals, ensuring long-term durability in extreme climates, from arctic winters to desert summers, without performance degradation.
